NEW BANDS TO THE U IN 2007
One of the biggest was Aaron Gillespie’s side project The Almost. Check out their album Southern Weather here.
Another new one was Flicker Records band Wavorly. They put out Conquering the Fear of Flight, toured with the likes of Disciple and Fireflight, and ate all of Jared’s runts.
The next is Deas Vail - their album All the Houses Look the Same released in March.
Towards the end of the year we heard from three great new bands. Ivoryline, who has a full length on the way in February, A Dream Too Late, whose album is already out, and A Rotterdam November.
The Devil Wears Prada was new to RadioU and TVU this year as well. Their album Plagues is out now, and they also spent some time this year touring with Emery. |
CALLING IT QUITS IN 2007
One of the most notable was up and coming Tooth and Nail band Sullivan. After releasing their new album Cover Your Eyes, they decided to end things in early November.
After the new album was released, Chasing Victory also decided to go their separate ways and dropped the news in late September.
Some other notable break ups this year came mostly in the hardcore realm. Alove for Enemies decided to call it quits this year, as well as Twelve Gauge Valentine. Also, after two major tour cancellations and a total of 18 different band members, Nodes of Ranvier ended their run in 2007. |
BIGGEST HEADLINES OF 2007
Switchfoot and Copeland both left Columbia Records...sucks to be Columbia in 2007...well probably not.
After selling over a bizzillion copies of their new album Cities, Anberlin finally got the recognition they deserved and signed to Universal Records.
Showbread was in the news quite a bit this year - from beloved vocalist Tae deciding to leave the band to their multiple trips to India.
Flyleaf toured with Skillet in 2007, Switchfoot toured with Relient K, As I Lay Dying toured with Haste the Day, and the Rival Factions Tour with Project 86 was huge as well.
A few artists got nominated for Grammy Awards (As I Lay Dying, The Fold, Mute Math), and you can now hear Red in Apple stores across the country.
Last but not least, Sonny of P.O.D. cut his dreadlocks and Tim of House of Heroes got a hair cut as well. Yeah, you remember. |
