A look back at the biggest tours
of 2006...
The Warriors 2: Guilty by Association Tour kicked off in the spring featuring headliner P.O.D. Also on the bill were Pillar, The Chariot, and Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. The tour was praised for bringing together some of the biggest names from hard rock and hardcore.
Demon Hunter rarely tours, but when they do, it has to be big. This year’s Undying Tour lived up to all expectations. DH brought with them August Burns Red and Becoming the Archetype, two of the newest up and coming names in metal. And as if that wasn’t enough, they also had Zao and Spoken on the tour. It only ran for four weeks, but there was no excuse to miss that tour.
Finally the Winter Wonderslam Tour brought tobyMac, Hawk Nelson, Family Force 5, The Afters, and new artist Ayiesha Woods together in December. It was a Merry Christmas for all who attended.
Here's a look at bands that broke up in 2006...
An announcement on the band's Website in January confirmed that Further Seems Forever had called it quits. FSF formed in 1999 with lead singer Chris Carrabba, who went on to earn fame as Dashboard Confessional. It also featured members of hardcore pioneers Strong Arm, later adding singers Jason Gleason and most recently John Bunch.
Then in May, Staple announced that they would be no more as well. Formed in 2000, Staple signed with Flicker Records in 2003 and put out two CDs through the label. Known for their relentless touring, they were known to have played well over 150 shows per year. Some members of the band have moved on to new bands, you can find out more through the band's MySpace page.
Other bands that did not make it out of 2006 were Forever Changed, who announced their breakup in March; and Last Tuesday, who announced their breakup just a few weeks ago. |
